CSL and Board Vote $1.6 million More for the Ballpark—7 Cost Overruns for Holt, Morano, and AKRF Inc.

October 11, 2011 If you thought you were done paying for St. Lawrence’s ballpark you are mistaken. Tonight, at the Ramapo Town Board Meeting, Supervisor St. Lawrence and the town board members unanimously voted to approve 10 change orders for construction and testing at the baseball park. The total cost to the taxpayers was $1,632,079.00 and the votes on all the resolutions were:

Supervisor St. Lawrence—Yes on all the overruns,

Daniel Friedman—Yes on all the overruns,

Fran Hunter—Yes on all the overruns,

Ytzy Ullman—Yes on all the overruns,

Pat Withers—Yes on all the overruns.

The four separate resolutions containing these overruns were:

1. Change Order Resolution Morano

Grading, site work and drainage.

7 Change orders that will raise the Morano total

From $14,535,242

To $15,314,290

Cost of this Resolution = $778,748.

2. Change Order Resolution Morano

Paving and Curbs

Will raise this Morano contract total

From $2,644,330

To $2,981,628

Cost of this Resolution = $337,298.

3. Parks Maintenance Building Holt Construction

Will raise this Holt contract total

From $3,984,958

To $4,450,991

Cost of this Resolution = $466,033.

4. Soil Monitoring AKRF Inc

Ongoing soil testing at the ballpark

Will raise this AKRF contract total

From $89,600

To $139,600

Cost of this Resolution = $50,000.

Every one of these items was for work done at the ballpark site, and they comprise additional new costs for St. Lawrence’s Provident Park totaling:

$1,632,079.00.

And in the midst of these new burdens loaded on to the backs of Ramapo taxpayers, St. Lawrence is still refusing to provide the numbers for the income and expenses at the ballpark this season.
