More false rhetoric of 'anti-Semitism'(Original publication: September 13, 2007) As an Orthodox Jew who lives in Ramapo, I am deeply offended by the signs calling the Preserve Ramapo organization racist and anti-Semitic. Unfortunately, this is not a new tactic. Whenever people speak out against the town's policies that cater to the Hasidic community without regard for the environment, they are labeled anti-Semitic. As seen in the past, even respected members of the Orthodox community were not immune. Of course, the attacks are always done anonymously, so that those responsible cannot be confronted. I, along with many of my friends and neighbors, are supporters of Preserve Ramapo. Preserve Ramapo has done nothing, other than cite facts and report issues, that should concern everyone who lives in the town. Residents would best be served if the Ramapo Town Board responded to the issues that truly need to be addressed and denounced those who are promoting this false rhetoric. David Goldsmith
