Growth of Tax Exempts in Spring Valley and Monsey

June 13, 2008  By itself, the Town of Ramapo is responsible for half of all the tax exempt properties in Rockland County. The two Ramapo Villages that account for the greatest number of those exempts are Monsey (647) and Spring Valley (384). You can see the comparison with other towns and villages in the county here.

The charts below illustrate the recent increases in tax-exempts in both villages. As the exempts are removed from the tax rolls, the burden to make up the loss is shifted in a direct proportion to those still paying their taxes.
