Please read carefully Errors and mistakes can invalidate signatures and entire petition pages.

1. Any registered voter in the Town of Ramapo may sign.
2. Signers should sign two separate petitions. One for establishing the ward system and one for increasing the number of town board members from 4 to 6.
3. Signers should use their official signature, which is the one on file with the board of elections. This is the signature they used when they signed their voter registration form. Signers should not use initials, unless they use initials in their official signature.
4. A signature is required on each petition. A printed name without an accompanying signature is not valid.
5. Petitions need to be signed in black or blue Ink. No pencil.
6. A spouse must sign the signature on file with the board of elections. If a woman is registered with the board of elections under her maiden name, but signs the petition with her married name, the signature will be invalidated. If you are not sure which name you are registered under, you can call the Rockland County Board of Elections at 845 638 5172 and they will check your status.
7. A signer is only required to sign their signature on the petition. The witness/petition carrier can fill in the date and address and printed name if the signer does not.
8. You cannot sign for someone else. I.e. Wife for Husband, Parent for Son or Daughter. If you do, the signature will be invalidated by the board of elections.

1. Should be a registered voter residing in the Town of Ramapo.
2. You must personally witness every signature that you obtain.
3. You cannot witness your own signature. So sign someone else’s petition.
4. The date on the line must be the date that you obtained the signature on that line.
5. You may not sign as a witness to a petition that you did not personally witness.
6. Any correction or cross out on any line of the petition must be dated and initialed.
7. Two different witnesses cannot witness different signatures on the same petition.

1. Print your name and address, fill in the date. (must be the date of the last signature on the page or later)
2. Sign the petition in black or blue ink.
3. Please leave the Number of Signatures and Sheet Number lines blank. They will be filled in when the petition is scrubbed and bound for submission.
